Dr. Borges has a wealth of experience. Having trained first in Cuba, Dr. Borges went on to work in Cuba as an attending surgeon, specializing in Minimally Invasive Surgery for almost three years. He then came to the United States, where he completed another residency in General Surgery at the University at Buffalo, in order to become U.S. Board Certified. ​ As a General Surgeon with more than 15 years of experience, including international medical missions, he is able to take care of patients with many different complex surgical conditions, including benign and malignant diseases of the neck, chest, breast, abdomen, and pelvis, both in an elective and urgent setting. ​ During his training, Dr. Borges honed his open, laparoscopic, and robotic techniques, and is now skilled at performing these different types of surgeries, depending on the case indication and requirements. By working in different countries and with patients of very diverse backgrounds, Dr. Borges brings a unique perspective that allows him to handle any surgical condition with accuracy, efficiency, and compassion.
