Help us welcome Dr. Nikalesh Reddy!

DR REDDYNikalesh Reddy, MD, FACS, a general surgeon with a specialty in thoracic oncology surgery, has joined the Galliano Surgical Group. Dr. Reddy is a Board-certified general surgeon who, after 8 years of experience in general surgery, became fellowship trained in thoracic surgery.

He completed his fellowship training at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center in Buffalo, NY. His training focused on lung cancer, esophageal cancer, chest wall masses, mediastinal masses, and malignant pleural disease. While finishing his fellowship, he performed thoracoscopic and robotic lobectomies, wedge resections, benign and malignant surgeries, thoracotomies for complex sleeve resections, pulmonary artery (PA) plasties, and various foregut surgeries.

Dr. Reddy graduated medical school from the prestigious Madras Medical College in Madras, India in 1998. From there he finished his mastery in surgery at Kilpauk Medical College in Madras, India before moving to New York City in 2002 with a research fellowship at the Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. He worked in the liver transplant division. From 2005 to 2011,

\Dr. Reddy completed his surgical residency at St. Luke’s Roosevelt Medical Center in New York City. During his residency, he received multiple awards for his hard work. Before beginning his training in thoracic surgery, Dr. Reddy practiced general surgery from 2011 to 2020 at Alice Hyde Medical Center in Malone, New York. During this time, he held multiple positions including Consultant Surgeon, Vice President of Medical Staff, Chair of Quality Committee, and Chair of Surgery. He produced several publications that related to cancer research and the role of endogenous inflammation in propagating cancer.

He was voted onto the top surgeons list in New York for numerous consecutive years, as well as leader in healthcare by the American Council. Dr. Reddy is also currently a Major in the U.S. Army Reserves. Priding himself on providing the best and most compassionate care possible, Dr. Reddy makes an effort to include his patients in all aspects of care. He takes the time to help patients understand their
diagnosis, the disease process, and treatment options. His approachable and comforting demeaner make him an exciting and promising addition to the Galliano Surgical Group team.

James (Mark) Kiely, MD, FACS, FASCRS has joined the Galliano Surgical Group. Dr. Kiely joins us from an academic Colon and Rectal Surgery practice in Columbia Dr. Mark KielyUniversity Medical Center, New York where he has been in practice for over three years.

Prior to this he was in academic practice at Baystate Medical Center for five years. Dr. Kiely completed his Clinical Fellowship in Colon and Rectal Surgery at Cleveland Clinic Ohio in 2011 and General Surgery residency training at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2010. His clinical interests encompass the whole of colorectal surgery including benign and malignant conditions, abdominal and pelvic, as well as anorectal procedures.

He has specific expertise in robotic rectal cancer surgery, Crohn’s/inflammatory bowel disease management, sphincter sparing anal fistula surgery (LIFT) procedure and abdominopelvic reoperative surgery. He has a keen interest in research and is an author on numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, published abstracts, oral presentations, and book chapters.

Originally from Ireland, Dr. Kiely graduated from medical school at the University of Dublin, Trinity College in 1999. After receiving an Associate Fellowship Degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2002, he then completed research at the Medical College of Wisconsin from 2002 to 2005 and finished a thesis on leptin, obesity and intestinal function in 2006 obtaining a post-graduate degree (MD) from his alma mater, Trinity College Dublin.
